This 1824 Capped Bust Half Dollar grades Choice AU-53. This is an incredibly nice original coin with a lovely natural antique silver grey toning. It is a coin with lots of eye appeal.
This coin is the O-113 Variety for this date. This variety has an irregular shaped die defect that appears above the eagle's left shoulder that looks like a worm falling from the eagle's mouth... Thus the nick name for this variety. Just a very interesting coin, and also super nice. The surfaces are free of any problem marks or hits. The coin is sharply struck with bold details and just a trace of wear. The coin shows a bit of blue toning encircling the devices.
Some nice luster remains in the lettering, stars, and more protected areas. Just a great coin with a great look! Someone will love this coin I think! The holder of this coin has a few scuffs, the lines seen in the images are on the holder itself, and Not on the coin. This coin is nicer in hand, than I could capture in the images.
Check the multiple images to hopefully get an idea of how nice this coin really is. Just a very pleasing coin. This coin would make a welcome addition to a high grade set.
